COMPANY OVERVIEW

The Centre of Excellence in Agricultural and Biotechnological Sciences (Cesab) is located in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. The Cesab is a constituent of the New Brunswick Community College. The Cesab is primarily involved in the training of laboratory technologists to work in the industrial sectors using biotechnology. We provide our students with a solid foundation in the core sciences as well as in the more specialized areas which apply to biotechnology. The courses are taught at a university level with the labs providing the students hands-on experience with techniques most commonly used in biotechnology. Some examples of the techniques are DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, PAGE and agarose gel electrophoresis, chromatography, immunology, cell tissue culture and transformation, bench top biofermentation, down-stream processing, environmental analysis and chemical extraction technologies. In addition to training the Cesab also has a mandate to provide research expertise and support to industries using biotechnology. Our laboratories are well equipped and modern. We have staff with expertise in the field of bioremediation, as well as the equipment to engage in research and development.
